Superfoods for Super Pups

It’s what’s on the inside that counts! From strong bones to powerful hearts, our bodies need certain things to stay healthy — and that goes for our pups too. One key way to support our pup’s health and strengthen their immune system is by maintaining a healthy lifestyle. The best way to start? A fresh, diverse diet!

There are many ingredients that make it easy to feed your doggo a balanced diet full of delicious superfoods. A superfood, according to Live Science, is a food “that is thought to be nutritionally dense and thus good for one’s health.” Pet Plate recipes feature five main superfoods, packed with vitamins and minerals that will keep your pup healthy!

Our meals include some of our favorites, such as:

Sweet Potatoes

This delicious starch is rich in fiber and antioxidants (150% more than blueberries!), not to mention great taste! Incorporating sweet potatoes into your pup’s diet can help ward off illness and improve heart health.

Apples

Apples are a simple way to provide your pooch with enough fiber, vitamin A, and vitamin C to keep their bodies strong. You will find apple in all four Pet Plate recipes, they’re that important! And here’s another tip: apple slices are a natural cleanser for your puppy’s teeth! Just remember to remove all seeds before feeding apple slices to your doggo, as toxic compounds are found within seeds!

Broccoli

All other pups will be green with envy over your doggo’s broccoli-filled meals! Broccoli not only has cancer-preventing, eye-protecting nutrients in every bite, but it also gives your pooch a great source of vitamin K, calcium, and potassium. Serve your pup broccoli in Pet Plate’s delicious meals, or as a snack on its own!

Pumpkin

Calling all sensitive tummies! Pumpkin is a wonderful ingredient to introduce to dogs with digestive issues, as it is low in calories and high in fiber. Hoomans might love their pumpkin spice lattes, but doggos love pumpkin just as much! Packed with all major vitamins, pumpkin is a great superfood to start with for your pup.
